If you thrive on translating complex requirements into effective system solutions and enjoy leading change in a regulated environment, we’d love to hear from you.About the roleThe purpose of this role is to improve the operational performance of the pensions administration service for the Royal Mail Pension Plan, by taking a lead role in the implementation of planned developments to the pensions operating systems and business processes.
- Plan and lead delivery of changes to RMPP administration systems arising out of Trustee, Employer or PSC driven initiatives, maximising opportunities for improving operational efficiency and pension scheme member experience.
- Plan changes to ensure compliance with the Group Pensions framework and UK Pensions regulatory framework (e.g. arising out of changes to RMPP as a result of scheme closure, changes to the Pensions Regulator and / or PASA Codes of Practice) ensuring HR Strategy & Services’ continued capability to deliver current and future service requirements.
- Plan and execute delivery of business requirements and testing of changes to the PS Pensions platform and any other pensions systems adopted by the service.
- Work with key stakeholders (primarily RMPP Trustee Executive and PSC operational teams) to understand planned changes to ensure the delivery of accurate and complete business requirements, ensuring that scheme calculations and administration processes align with planned changes and RMPP Trust Deed and Rules.
- Work collaboratively with key suppliers (e.g. RMG Technology and HCL) to ensure end-to-end alignment of delivery plans.
- Apply best practice principles of change management to enable delivery of planned system changes to plan timescales.
- Plan and manage effective end-user engagement with planned changes to the administration systems and processes throughout the whole change cycle.
- Identify, champion and drive the execution of changes to the pensions administration operating model, challenging the ‘status quo’ to transform the member experience.
- Ensure safe systems of work.
- Extensive technical knowledge and understanding of pensions administration systems.
- A strong understanding of UK pensions, particularly DB and Career Average schemes, with a working knowledge of:
- RM Pension Plan rules and underpinning pensions legislation / statutory framework
- HMRC rules and regulations
- Confident in supporting and working with external technology suppliers to deliver planned system improvements.
- Proven planning and organisational skills, including experience of delivering to demanding timescales and working flexibly to ensure that customer requirements are met.
- Proven exponent of Service improvement tools & techniques, with a track record of challenging the ‘status quo’ leading to the delivery of both transformational and incremental change.
- Proven experience of delivering a professional, customer focused service within a commercial framework.
- Sound working knowledge of database structures, including understanding of using SQL queries.
- Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to convert complex Scheme rules into calculation inputs and results.
- Strong understanding of the principles and practice of change management.
- Possession of, or willingness to study towards, a professional pensions qualification (e.g. Certificate / Advanced Diploma in Pensions Administration; PMI Award in Pensions Essentials; QPA etc).
