The health and safety manager is required to work in Plymouth supporting a civil engineering project (with an approximate value of £100m). The planned programme of works at present is extensive and could lead to this being a long term role.
To support the planning and safe delivery of the project. Informing Mace team and client on all statutory and best practice requirements throughout the construction phase.
To assist the project manager in the delivery of the overall project in respect of CDM compliance.
To aid the client in raising standards onsite by promoting best practice.You’ll be responsible for:
  • Managing the implementation of client HSE policies, procedures, guidance notes and standards.
  • Assisting in the prequalification of the new and existing supply chain.
  • Training the site staff, in all areas of HSE to ensure the competence of the account team.
  • Communicating and supporting account HSE KPIs, objectives and targets.
  • Identifying and communicating areas of improvement and best practice.
  • Supervising the incident investigations, ensuring all associated paperwork is completed on time and preparing alerts and action findings.
  • Providing guidance and professional advice on construction activities in line with CDM 2015 and Mace best practice.
  • Keeping the project, team and client abreast of new developments, and apply professional standards to ensure legal compliance and best practice.
  • Maintaining core areas of expertise and impart knowledge to aid the development, training and mentoring of others.
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with customers, partners and suppliers to assist the achievement of both client and business targets.
You’ll need to have:
  • Qualification in environmental and quality.
  • Safety management certificate and a CSCS cardholder.
  • Construction or consultancy background within the nuclear and defence sector.
You’ll also have:
  • Experience in the defence and nuclear industries is preferable.
