Milk Education is looking for a dedicated and passionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our partner schools in Calderdale. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).About the Role:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning, behavioural, and communication needs. You will work closely with the class teacher to tailor a student’s educational experience, ensuring it is engaging, supportive, and inclusive. This includes:
  • Supporting students in developing communication and independence skills
  • Assisting in delivering engaging, structured lessons and activities
  • Helping create an adaptive, inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting the class teacher with resource preparation and interventions
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support for students with high-level Special Educational Needs
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Support individualised learning plans tailored to specific sensory, behavioural, and medical needs
  • Use initiative and be proactive in adapting the learning environment
  • Prepare resources and contribute to intervention sessions
  • Ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils
  • Collaborate effectively with teaching staff and wider support teams
Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience working with SEN students in a school or similar setting
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
  • Ability to follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures
  • Team player who works well under guidance and independently
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills
  • Resilient, patient, and enthusiastic with a positive attitude
