The SEN provision is designed to support those who face challenges in accessing the mainstream curriculum, including children with Autism, ADHD, Specific Learning Difficulties, and emotional or behavioural challenges. Each child’s unique needs are met through personalised learning plans aligned with their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), in a nurturing environment. A trauma-informed approach helps support students who may experience anxiety or emotional dysregulation, ensuring they are safe and supported. Strong relationships with families are prioritised, with regular involvement in the development and review of each child’s progress. Regular events such as history afternoons and reading activities help engage students in the learning process, creating a cohesive and inclusive atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported. The staff are committed to continuous professional development, ensuring they have the skills and resources to provide the best possible support.About the Role:As an HLTA, you will provide targeted support to students with special educational needs, working closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to implement personalised learning plans. You will support children with Autism, ADHD, and other learning or emotional challenges, applying trauma-informed practices and promoting positive behaviour. You’ll also collaborate with families, assist with staff training, and contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all students.Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teaching and learning activities, including teaching whole classes and assisting with small groups or individual pupils in the absence of the assigned teacher.
  • Assist with lesson planning, preparation, and providing feedback on pupils' progress.
  • Liaise with parents and carers to support pupil learning and development.
  • Implement individualized learning plans for pupils with special educational needs and promote self-esteem.
  • Monitor and assess pupils’ progress, collaborating with teachers to maintain records.
  • Contribute to the creation of teaching resources tailored to pupils' needs and interests.
  • Apply school policies related to behaviour management, safeguarding, and health and safety.
  • Supervise Teaching Assistants, support PPA time for staff, and carry out other duties as directed by the Headteacher.
Key Requirements:
  • At least 2 years’ experience teaching individuals, groups, and whole classes, including SEN students.
  • 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths) or equivalent, with HLTA status or teaching qualification.
  • Strong communication, organisational skills, and ability to manage behaviour in the classroom.
