HGV Technician – Derby City Council
Salary - £42,000 on target earnings.Guaranteed basic salary £37,280 - £39,862 per annum (dependant on previous experience)On target earnings of £42,000, to be made up of standby, call out and bank holiday working. This will be carried out on a rota basis and earnings will vary dependent on the number of hours worked.Earnings will vary dependent on basic salary and the number of hours worked.Directorate: Place
Hours: 37 Hours – Mon–Fri – 2 Shifts 6am-2pm & 12 noon -8pm

The Opportunity
In the role of HGV Technician here’s an example of what you’ll be doing to make an impact:
You will be part of a hardworking and dedicated team, to carry out the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Heavy and Light Commercial Vehicles and associated equipment. This may include electrical and hydraulic systems along with some welding and fabrication work.
There will be an opportunity to work overtime on Bank Holidays
You must be willing to go on a call out standby rota covering out of hours breakdowns with a standard standby payment for being available to work fee and payment at time and a quarter for time spent on actual call outs.About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll have...
City and Guilds Level 1,2 and 3 or equivalent NVQ Standard in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair along with relevant, previous experience working on HGV vehicles.
Experience of specialist vehicles such as RCV’s and Road Sweepers, this would be desirable but is not essential
A full HGV licence with DCPC however, training can be provided to a successful candidateWe are committed to the training and development of our teams. As a minimum the successful candidate will need to have the heavy goods maintenance City & Guilds NVQ or equivalent qualification, however should you feel you do not meet all of the remaining criteria for this role, we would be happy to look at how we can support you to achieve this with training in the postNext Steps
