LOCATIONMidlands / UK Wide KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Senior Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for leading, mentoring and training a team in test and commissioning and handing over projects of varying sizes and types. A strong understanding of electrical services, MVAC & LVAC systems and applications, Protection Panels, Transformers and equipment covering voltage ranges from 415v to 400kV and their associated protection systems is a necessity. A Senior Commissioning Engineer will work closely with Project Managers and customers in providing a fully working system on time and in budget.
  • Recruit, lead, train and mentor a team of Test & Commissioning Engineers
  • Audit and perform quality assurance of Test & Commissioning Engineers
  • Investigate and recommend preventative actions for any Test & Commissioning near miss, or incidents.
  • Carry out and document all tasks associated with the pre-commissioning / commissioning of the equipment.
  • Be responsible in handing over a fully operational system for acceptance by the customer.
  • Ensure health and safety procedures and standards are followed on site. Ensure all Health and safety documentation is filed, maintained and updated on site.
  • Ensure commissioning schedules, handover and witnessing documents are updated, maintained, completed and filed / issued to project manager prior to project completion.
  • Carry out factory acceptance testing, Site acceptance testing and customer witnessing.
  • Ensure sites are cleared of equipment and materials / products prior to handover / completion.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
  • HND or equivalent in Engineering.
  • At least 10-years working within the Power Industry.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Full UK Driving license.
  • Has good working knowledge of advanced protection schemes such as Distance, Differential etc.
  • Is capable of preparing and troubleshooting substation interface related design.
  • Capable of preparing configuration and settings files for ABB, Schneider, Siemens and GE relays.
  • Capable of seeing through energisation of large scale connection projects.
  • Experience with testing and commissioning of Power transformers.
SALARY & BENEFITSup to £75,000 + overtime + benefits package (inclusive of company vehicle)
