We are seeking a Democratic Services Officer to join a proactive and supportive team in Yorkshire on an interim basis. For the right candidate, there is genuine potential to transition into a permanent position with the authority.Start: ASAP
Duration: 6 months+ (with the potential to join the team permanently)
Working Arrangement: Full-time, hybrid
Rate: £30-35 per hour (umbrella)Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide professional support to elected members, senior officers, and committees.
  • Manage the preparation, distribution, and publication of agendas, reports, and minutes.
  • Ensure meetings are conducted in line with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the organisation of council, cabinet, and scrutiny meetings.
  • Advise on governance matters and promote best practice in decision-making processes.
About You:
  • Previous experience in a Democratic Services or committee administration role within local government.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and governance procedures.
  • Confident in using modern committee management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
