Absolute are partnering with a scaling Fintech business in London in their search for a Finance Director. Absolute are partnering with a scaling Fintech business in London in their search for a Finance Director. The business operates in the digital banking space and are FCA regulated (holding an EMI licence). The business is already revenue generating, and it’s an exciting time to join the business as they are poised to scale considerably over the next 18 months.The successful Finance Director will report directly to the CEO, and will manage a small finance team (Finance Manager and Accounts Assistant). The role will play a key strategic partner to the CEO, assisting in scaling the business and may include supporting with future investment raising in addition to having oversight on reporting, FCA reporting and ensuring the systems and processes are fit for scaling.Key duties and responsibilities
  • Produce financial models to support with strategic plans, collaborating with the CEO on growth strategy and expansion plans
  • Design and implement effective financial controls and systems ensuring the segregation and protection of clients’ funds.
  • Monitoring of funds, ensuring minimum capital requirements, escalating to the Board of any risks.
  • Management of accounting procedures and practices meet the requirements of the business, the Board, the investors, accounting standards organisations and the regulatory authorities.
  • Delivery of reporting requirements, including internal management reporting and KPI tracking, FCA reporting and statutory accounting.
  • Identify areas of risk and opportunities, providing advice on areas to improve including product pricing and profitability.
  • Mentor the finance team, providing feedback and assist with their long term development, with a view to building a world class finance function.
Candidate profile
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified with considerable industry experience
  • Experience within an Electronic Money Institute (EMI) or CASS regulated business
  • Prior experience within a high growth start-up environment (ideally Financial Services/Fintech)
  • Good knowledge of VISA/Mastercard issuing/acquiring
  • Experience setting up international subsidiaries
  • Strong communication skills, prior experience dealing with investors
  • Excellent leadership qualities, able to set clear objectives and a proven mentor
