
Laboratory Technician

- Some relevant laboratories experience is preferred; full training will be provided.
- Good Interpersonal and Communication Skills to work as part of a team and alone.
- Experience with common pharmaceutical materials and equipment is an advantage.
- Flexible and responsive to support routine and non-routine requests as part of a team.
- Motivated to learn and develop their skills.
- Basic IT literacy skills.
- Ensure that a clean supply of glassware is available for lab use. Follow Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for a variety of cleaning/drying methods.
- Maintain good housekeeping within all areas of the Laboratory.
- Process incoming samples in line with SOP.
- Carry out stock checks of lab and consumables and raise orders to replenish stock.
- Receive consumable orders into the building, ensuring they have been processed on the ordering spreadsheet and delivered to lab user.
- Maintain good housekeeping within Goods-In and Goods-Out, ensuring effective stock rotation and disposal of expired consumables and reagents.
- Carry out routine maintenance and perform checks on glass washers and purified water systems.
- Carry out routine equipment qualification eg balances and pH meters.
- Carry out routine disposal of tested samples as required.
- The role requires the individual to be an effective communicator with staff across all levels of the business. Clear communication, both written and oral, with manager and colleagues are essential to maintain the smooth running of the team.
