A global food manufacturing company is looking to appoint an EHS Manager to oversee the EHS function at one of their key locations in the Reading PA area.The EHS Manager will be a key part of the site leadership team and will be responsible for optimizing and managing all EHS programs and processes within the plant. Working closely with plant personnel, the EHS Manager will lead the implementation and evaluation of critical EHS processes, programs and procedures as well as objectives, and continuous improvement across 4 locations.The Role:
  • Implement, manage, and monitor all applicable EHS programs and processes across the facility.
  • Oversee and manage all EHS compliance, reporting, permitting and certifications for the company; these include Air Permitting, Wastewater Discharge, Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal, SPCC, FRP, and Spill Response.
  • Manage & mentor a team of 2 direct reports.
  • Effectively communicate and work with site’s varying departments, including Operations, Maintenance, and Packaging.
  • Provide technical guidance and stay up to date on all relevant environmental & safety standards and regulations that impact the organization, at federal, state and local level.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department, and, where appropriate, the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), to review and monitor workers’ compensation costs and develop plans to minimize active claims.
  • Lead employee engagement efforts including oversight of committees and assessment processes.
The Candidate:
  • BS in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited university is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience supporting Environmental, Health and Safety Compliance programs in industrial operations.
  • Workers’ Compensation Claims and Return-To-Work Program Management Experience.
  • Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis Experience.
  • Experience with Air Permitting (Title V), NPDES, Wastewater Discharge, Water Appropriation, Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal, SPCC, FRP, and Spill Response.
  • Knowledge and experience with ISO 45001 and 14001 management system implementation and certification.
  • Fluency in Spanish required.
