- Producing engineering and maintenance drawings for design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Designing, planning and reviewing, including cost and time delivery control.
- Participating in workshop activities, such as aiding with and/or overseeing manufacturing, assembly, and testing activities for both new and modified tooling.
- Reviewing drawings prior to approval.
- Leading the preparation and overseeing design and build programmes.
- Leading in the preparation of engineering estimates and control expenditure.
- Creating and delivering operations/maintenance and safety manuals for newly designed equipment – updating existing manuals as necessary.
- Leading research and development projects, using an initiative approach, and ensuring adequate resources are available.
- Preparing and reviewing calculations and managing design packages.
- Liaising with other departments - including tendering, projects, and business development - to aid the wider team in securing and successfully executing project scopes.
- Interfacing with the client’s representatives during project planning phase as requested.
- Participating in pre-job and post-job review meetings. Participating in close out and implementation of corrective actions, resulting from NCR’s and customer input.
- Ensuring that all designs are in line with the relevant engineering standards and legislative requirements and/or customer specific requirements.
- Where inspection is required, inspecting ordered goods to ensure conformity to purchase orders and company requirements.
- Ensuring all risk assessments are completed prior to commissioning, function testing, pressure testing or operational testing of any newly designed equipment.
- Liaising with QHSE and aiding in the investigations and reporting of failures, NCRs and OFI’s.
- A Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline, would be preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar Design Engineer type role, directly within the ROV tooling / decommissioning field, is essential.
- 3D modelling & design experience is essential (SolidWorks or similar).
- Experience in producing manufacturing drawings is essential.
- Applicants should have previous experience in the North Sea Subsea sector, covering IRM, decommissioning, construction and installation.
- Experience with FEA would be preferred.
- Experience with PDM would be preferred.
