This post has been created to support and develop the OMFS service at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, in line with the needs of the department. This will be renewable contract up to 12 months in total. The opportunity to proceed to Substantive Consultant is available, with funding secured. The successful candidate will be working as an OMFS Consultant in OMFS at Homerton Healthcare, in a primarily elective setting, with support to develop their areas of subspecialty interest. The successful candidate will have regular outpatient and theatre sessions at Homerton Healthcare.The consultant will also be responsible for teaching Staff Grades and other junior staff, as well as contributing to the department teaching, audit and research programmes at Homerton Healthcare.Main duties of the jobo Consultants will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and for the proper functioning of their departments.o Consultants will undertake administrative duties associated with the care of their patients and the running of their clinics or department. All Consultants are expected to assume responsibility both singly and corporately for the management of the Junior Medical Staff. In particular, they are expected to be responsible for approving and monitoring junior staff rotas and junior staff locum arrangements, where appropriate.o The successful applicant will be expected to participate fully in the medical audit arrangements in the District. o Consultants are also expected to concern themselves with the professional development of their trainees.o All Consultants have a responsibility to contribute to the teaching and assessment of undergraduates and of junior doctors.o Consultants are expected to continue with all aspects of professional development to allow successful appraisal and revalidation.About usHomerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is an integrated care trust which provides hospital and community health services for Hackney, the city and surrounding communities.
