- FRCS (OMFS) or equivalent
- MFDS or equivalent Higher degree - BSc MS MD PhD or equivalent
- Registered on GMC specialist register or within 6 months of obtaining it at the time of the interview
- Subspecialist training in OMFS, in an area of interest suitable to the future development of the department
- Broad based general professional training in general medicine
- Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff
- Training the Trainers Course or equivalent
- Teaching and Assessment in Practice Course or equivalent
- Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding and experience of audit
- Evidence of service audit, design or change management
- Knowledge of research methodology
- Evidence of ongoing interest and achievement in research
- Training in research methodology.
- Publications in peer review journals
- Presentations to learned societies
- Communication. Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English.
