Painter and Decorator / General Maintenance Technician (1.0 FTE)EstatesLocation: Glasgow, G3 6RQRole is based at our Glasgow Campus with travel to Forres Campus, IV36 2SHGrade 4, £28,031 - £31,236 per annum pro rataPermanent35 hours per weekMonday to Friday 9:00-17:00Applications are invited for a Painter and Decorator / General Maintenance Technician in the Estates Department.The RoleTo carry out painting and decorating across the campus along with routine maintenance and repair work. Typically, duties are:
  • Painting and decorating across the GSA campus
  • Planned and reactive maintenance
  • Basic plumbing and drainage repairs
  • Clearing blocked toilets and drains.
  • Protect surrounding areas and furniture during painting and decorating tasks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide recommendations.
  • Carry out inspections across the GSA campus.
  • Implement a cyclical painting and decorating regime across campus.
  • Measuring and recording of monthly water temperatures.
  • Quarterly shower head cleaning and disinfecting
  • Maintaining stock of maintenance materials and equipment.
  • Undertake training as appropriate to the role and as part of GSA's staff development programme.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required including attendance to out of hours emergencies.
  • Any reasonable duties as required by the Maintenance Officer.
Person SpecificationThe following experience and qualifications are necessary for the position:
  • A recognised painting and decorating qualification would be desirable or to be working towards a qualification.
  • An effective understanding of health and safety legislation within the construction industry is essential.
  • Ability to organise safe methods of working is essential.
  • A broad knowledge of building construction is required.
