Senior CS&A EngineerBase Location - Devonport or BristolRole Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead and deliver structural inspections and assessments across a range of marine and building infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and longevity of critical assets, while also mentoring junior engineers and liaising directly with clients.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and conduct structural inspections of marine structures including wharfs, jetties, basins, piling and communication support systems.
  • Experienced in the inspection of dock and marine assets constructed of masonry, timber, concrete, and steel.
  • Able to identify and diagnose structural defects in masonry, concrete, and timber, and recommend appropriate remediation strategies.
  • Prepare detailed defect repair specifications for steel, concrete, and timber structures to industry standards and client requirements.
  • Produce high-quality technical inspection reports and ensure the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables.
  • Manage the end-to-end quality assurance of team's inspection outputs, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with project specifications.
  • Collaborate with the client, plan, coordinate, and lead teams of engineers and technicians in the execution of inspection activities.
  • Engage clients and stakeholders in understanding requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure alignment of deliverables with expectations.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
  • Extensive experience in civil / structural inspection and assessment of marine and building infrastructure.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural materials behaviour, including masonry, concrete, timber, and steel.
  • Proven ability to write clear, concise, and technically sound reports and specifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing engineering teams and delivering complex inspection projects.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Periods of site presence to undertake inspection
