Field Service Engineer

In addition to hands-on repair work, you will support the Service Team by providing technical expertise, diagnosing complex faults, and delivering exceptional customer service.Key Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer
- Carry out field-based and workshop repairs on recovery vehicles, including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Perform servicing, inspections, and preventive maintenance in line with manufacturer and company standards.
- Diagnose faults quickly and accurately, including multi-system issues.
- Conduct inspections, testing, adjustments, stripping, fitting, and component replacements.
- Carry out electrical fault-finding and repairs, including wiring, lighting, and control systems.
- Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Provide clear communication and technical support to customers and colleagues.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, particularly at roadside or customer premises.
- Qualified HGV, Plant Technician (or proven track record in a similar role).
- Strong mechanical background with expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
- Proven experience working with HGVs.
- Class 1 licence desirable (not essential).
- Ability to work independently and use initiative.
- Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Flexible and adaptable with working hours, able to support wider business needs.
