ABC Teachers are seeking a compassionate, proactive, and engaging Youth Worker to join a dedicated team within a Primary School setting supporting children with Autism and complex learning needs.As a Youth Worker you will play a key role in building trusted relationships, promoting positive well-being, and supporting pupils to overcome barriers to learning and personal development.About the role:
  • The Youth Worker will be supporting young people with Special educational needs in small group classes and on a 1:1 basis.
  • Following the guidance of the teacher but knowing the students well enough to deal with any conflicts
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with children and young people, offering consistent guidance and encouragement
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to provide tailored support
  • Plan and deliver structured activities and informal sessions to promote social, emotional, and personal development
  • Support pupils in managing behaviour, developing confidence, and building resilience
  • Actively contribute to the inclusive and nurturing ethos of the school community
  • Always promote safeguarding and the welfare of pupils at all times.
About the school:
  • A primary school setting that caters to young learners aged 5 to 11, with an emphasis on providing extensive support, particularly for those with additional needs, supporting a range of needs including: - Social Emotional Mental Health, Autism/ADHD and non-verbal pupils.
  • The school has a learning environment where resources and activities are consistently available for pupils to engage with. This approach supports self-directed learning, helping children develop independence and decision-making skills, while also providing a structured foundation for more focused learning sessions.
  • The school prioritises language development, offering speech and language therapy as an integral part of the school day, which is particularly beneficial for children with communication difficulties or those who need additional support with literacy and language skills.
  • With a focus on continuous provision and clinical support the school fosters a strong commitment to inclusivity, where every child, regardless of ability or need, is given the tools and opportunities to thrive.
About you:
  • A relevant Level 3 Qualification such as Children and Young People's Workforce, Sporting qualifications and more is desired but not required.
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and background.
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and making a meaningful contribution.
  • Confident in using initiative and taking a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications.
