Teaching Assistant - Year 3 and SEND Provision Support Location: Christchurch, Hampshire Start Date: October 2025 Contract: Full-Time, Term Time Only (08:30 - 15:30) Salary: Dependent on experience and qualifications An established primary school in Christchurch is expanding its specialist support and is looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant from October 2025. This is a full-time role working in a Year 3 class, where you will provide one-to-one support for a pupil with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), while also contributing to the school's new SEND provision. The position offers the chance to be part of an exciting development within the school, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and helping shape a learning environment where every child is able to thrive. Main Duties Deliver consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with ASC, adapting strategies to suit their learning and social needs Work as part of the SEND provision team to deliver targeted interventions and small-group support Assist teachers in preparing lessons and resources that meet a wide range of learning needs Encourage pupils to develop independence, self-confidence, and positive behaviour through supportive relationships Provide supervision and encouragement during transitions, breaks, and lunchtime activities Track progress and share observations with the class teacher, SENDCo, and parents/carers as appropriate Contribute to the continued development of the school's new provision through training and collaboration Person Specification Experience of supporting pupils with ASC, ADHD or other additional needs, either in school or alternative settings A calm, adaptable and reliable approach, with the resilience to support pupils with varied and sometimes complex needs Ability to work well in a team, with strong communication and organisational skills Understanding of the primary curriculum and the ability to adapt learning for individual pupils A relevant qualification in education or childcare is desirable, though practical experience will also be valued Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice What the School Offers The opportunity to play a key role in a developing SEND provision A collaborative and forward-thinking staff team with strong leadership support Ongoing training to support your professional growth A chance to make a genuine impact on the learning and wellbeing of pupils with additional needs If you are motivated to support children with SEND and are excited about contributing to a new area of school development, we welcome your application.
