Salary: £34,945 - £41,934Seeking highly motivated ASYE Social Worker to join the Reach Out Team, a service dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families through early intervention, safeguarding, and targeted support. This role is an excellent opportunity for an Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) social worker to develop their skills within a specialist team, receiving structured mentorship, training, and supervision.The successful candidate will work alongside experienced Social Workers, Family Support Workers, and multi-agency professionals, gaining hands-on experience in assessments, intervention planning, and safeguarding procedures.Main Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments of children and families, identifying needs, risks, and appropriate support plans.
  • Develop and implement child-centred interventions that promote safety, stability, and well-being.
  • Work with children subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC) plans.
  • Support young people at risk of exploitation, neglect, and family breakdown through direct work.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, schools, housing services, police, and voluntary organisations to coordinate care and support.
  • Attend multi-agency meetings, contributing to care plans and safeguarding interventions.
  • Ensure all work aligns with statutory safeguarding procedures, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and the Children Act 1989.
  • Participate in the ASYE programme, receiving structured mentorship, reflective supervision, and training.
  • Shadow experienced social workers and gradually build a manageable caseload, ensuring steady progression.
  • Engage in peer learning, case discussions, and professional workshops to enhance practice.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, assessments, and reports, ensuring compliance with local policies and statutory guidelines.
  • Provide direct support to children and families, ensuring interventions are timely, evidence-based, and strengths-focused.
Requirements of the ASYE Social Worker:
  • Degree or equivalent within Social Work
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Previous UK Social Work experience working within Adult Services
  • Have a proven track record of strengths and assets-based statutory social work in line with the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and Mental Health Act; undertaking duties expected of social workers in line with their Professional Capabilities Framework.
  • Have significant experience with providing social interventions that promote recovery and will be working collaboratively with Herefordshire & Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, who provide specialist mental health services across the County.
  • Significant experience of undertaking safeguarding enquiries is essential, alongside experience of working in complex situations using professional judgement and a range of interventions.
