We are a team of over 60 colleagues operating out of all four of our offices (Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and London) on a flexible hybrid basis. We are open to discussions about alternative working patterns.The roleWe have an opportunity for a senior lawyer to join our team, offering the opportunity to be a part of a diverse and rich practice area that is intellectually stimulating and hugely rewarding. The role will involve advising clients on a range of health, social care and education issues, both contentious and non-contentious.There will be a particular focus on supporting our local authority clients in children's and Court of Protection work and in advising and acting in SEND matters. We are also looking for candidates to have demonstrable experience in business development for local authority clients. There will be opportunities to be involved in our other work-types as well (such as inquests or regulatory law).Key responsibilities:
- Manage your own varied caseload of both advisory and litigation matters
- Advocacy at Court of Protection hearings and Tribunals
- Active involvement in client care and business development
- Assist with the wider management and supervision of the team
- 7+ PQE
- An ability to work confidently and effectively with others, clients and colleagues alike
- Technical excellence, organised, lateral thinker with an eye for detail
- Enthusiasm to develop legal skills and a willingness to take on challenges
- Team player, with the temperament to form strong and sustained working partnerships
- Practical and commercial approach
- Experience leading on business development activities
