We are seeking an IP Litigation Paralegal for a Tier 1 IP law firm in central London.This position sits within the firms Litigation team, with a focus on patents and trademarks. The role provides direct support to the litigation group and reports to a senior paralegal. It offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their career in a fast-paced environment, with scope for progression and, in time, responsibility for managing their own caseload.Candidates with an interest or background in intellectual property, science, or technology may find this role particularly rewarding, as well as those keen to contribute to the growth of a dynamic and ambitious litigation team.Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting research into areas of patent and trademark litigation and case law, primarily in the UK and occasionally across the EU.
  • Assisting with the preparation of evidence, exhibits, and disclosure review tasks.
  • Preparing electronic and hard-copy bundles for internal and external use.
  • Compiling materials for use in court hearings, in line with applicable practice guidelines.
  • Supporting and attending hearings, including trials.
  • Managing filing of pleadings and case documents using document management systems, ensuring matter spaces are kept up to date.
  • Assisting with business development initiatives.
  • Collaborating closely with fee earners across the group and integrating into case teams during trial preparation.
  • Contributing to the development of precedents, templates, and updates on case law or practice directions.
  • Working as part of integrated teams with both litigators and patent attorneys.
Skills & Experience
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent). STEM background advantageous.
  • Previous paralegal or legal experience essential, ideally in active litigation matters and preferably in patents.
  • Strong knowledge of intellectual property litigation, particularly in patents and trademarks.
  • Familiarity with relevant forums such as the High Court, Court of Appeal, the European Patent Office, and/or the UKIPO.
