Via Teaching PersonnelAre you a compassionate and experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs? A warm and inclusive Catholic Primary School in Maghull is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a calm, non-verbal pupil with Autism.This is a full-time role for the entire academic year, offering a rewarding opportunity to make a lasting impact in a child’s early education journey.About the Role
  • Supporting a Reception-aged pupil with Autism who is non-verbal but calm and settled
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support
  • Using visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines to aid communication and engagement
  • Encouraging social interaction and emotional regulation in a nurturing environment
  • Promoting independence and confidence through consistent, patient support
✅ What We’re Looking For
  • Experience working with children with Autism or other SEND needs (essential)
  • Familiarity with PECS, Makaton, or other alternative communication methods (desirable)
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to behaviour and emotional support
  • A team player who can collaborate with staff and parents to ensure the best outcomes
Ideal Background
  • Previous experience as a Reception TA, EYFS practitioner, or SEND Teaching Assistant
  • Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3, Teaching Assistant Certificate, or similar (Teaching Personnel do provide Level 2 TA qualification training)
  • Knowledge of the EYFS framework and early childhood development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
