An excellent opportunity has arisen with one of our prestigious Lloyd's Syndicate clients, who are seeking an experienced Excess Casualty Underwriter to join their London-based team. This role is a fantastic chance to contribute to a high-performing portfolio, with a focus on US Excess Casualty business, in a dynamic and collaborative underwriting environment.As a recruiter working closely with this market-leading Syndicate, I'm looking to speak with driven individuals who are confident working with complex risks and are excited to be part of a forward-thinking organisation with strong market presence.Key Responsibilities:Underwrite, quote and bind US Excess Casualty risks in line with delegated authority and company strategyExecute underwriting decisions that contribute to the delivery of portfolio and business plan objectivesMonitor portfolio performance and support data-led improvements in underwriting disciplineMaintain and grow broker relationships, identifying and securing new business opportunitiesContinuously review and refine rating tools and pricing modelsSupport the development of more junior underwriting staffEnsure compliance with regulatory standards and internal controlsPerson Specification:Demonstrable experience in US Excess Casualty underwriting (Lloyd's market experience desirable)Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risksExcellent negotiation and communication skills-comfortable engaging with both brokers and internal stakeholdersProficient in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelHighly organised with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage time effectivelyMotivated, collaborative, and open to innovationCommitted to professional development and long-term career growthWhat's on Offer:Competitive salary and discretionary bonusHybrid working model (City-based office)Opportunity to work within a respected Lloyd's Syndicate with international reachA supportive, inclusive culture focused on smart decision-making, collaboration, and developmentCareer progression pathways within a growing teamNext StepsIf you are a skilled Excess Casualty Underwriter looking for your next opportunity within the London market, I would love to hear from you.
