About the roleBalfour Beatty are looking for a Senior Design Manager to join their Power Transmission and Distribution team in Derby.Role PurposeThe Senior Design Manager is accountable for a portfolio of Power Transmission and Distribution Engineering projects and their design delivery, management and engineering governance, from initial opportunity, through bid development and contract negotiation, mobilisation and delivery, and finally project completion and archiving.They will lead, manage, mentor and develop, a team of Design and Engineering Managers, Assistant Engineering Managers, Graduates, Apprentices and Trainees.They are expected to work closely with the Project Director, or Head Of OPS, and lead positive engagement with internal and external stakeholders to manage the scope risks and programme of their portfolio of projects designs.The Senior Design Manager has responsibility for the way the team works, leading the selection of the right methods of engagement and processes used on their projects.What you'll be doingAccountabilities
  • Design management for safe, quality delivery of design projects on time and budget
  • Hire, train and motivate your team
  • Created a culture of innovation and collaboration among engineers
  • Scope and Technical change management
  • Monthly project reporting
  • Seeking opportunities to deliver safer, better, faster and more profitably
  • Technical Input to contract negotiations
  • Producing and maintaining key project documents
  • Ensuring compliance with BB Governance and customer requirements whilst developing and executing engineering strategies to support business objectives
