A leading upstream operator is looking to appoint a part-time Commercial Advisor on a 12-month contract to support operated asset activity and third-party engagements. The role involves negotiating and managing a broad range of commercial agreements, maintaining stakeholder relationships, and working with a high degree of autonomy to ensure contractual compliance across multiple interfaces.Key Responsibilities:
  • Negotiating, drafting, and managing the full lifecycle of commercial agreements across the oil and gas sector, including Joint Operating Agreements, Unitisation Agreements, Transportation and Processing Agreements, and Sale and Purchase Agreements.
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with infrastructure owners, joint venture partners, regulators, and industry bodies.
  • Providing clear, well-informed proposals and updates to senior stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
  • Collaborating with internal teams to agree terms on new agreements, ensuring obligations are clearly defined and compliance measures are in place.
  • Supporting internal planning by advising on commercial and contractual matters that influence future activities and forecasts.
  • Ensuring timely fulfilment of contractual obligations by all parties, in line with agreed terms.
  • Leading or supporting negotiations for new commercial agreements, ensuring alignment with industry best practice.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by sharing lessons learned and supporting cross-functional collaboration.
  • Monitoring developments in the energy transition, considering implications for future commercial models and value creation.
  • Working closely with legal, technical, and operational teams to ensure contract terms are commercially and operationally sound.
About You:
  • Previous experience working as a Commercial Advisor within the UK upstream oil and gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry contracts and commercial frameworks.
  • Proven track record in negotiating and managing agreements such as JOAs, TPAs, and SPAs.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with a proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
