- A high degree of experience across the entire Microsoft BI Stack including SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS & Power BI.
- Being able to support, create and enhance ETL solutions using Azure Data Factory.
- Knowledge of the Azure suite of resources that can enhance BI solutions such as Azure VM's, Azure SQL Database, Log Analytics, Logic Apps, Azure Analysis Services, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Key Vault.
- Strong SQL Skills - the applicant must be able to write performant SQL queries and stored procedures while also being able to understand and reverse engineer issues back to the source and then applying a fix.
- Design, build and reverse engineer reports in Power BI using various data sources with a demonstrated understanding of DAX and Power Query.
- Working knowledge of other BI Tools including Qlik, Tableau & AWS Quicksight.
- Some knowledge of other database engines such as Oracle, MySQL.
- Experience with disaster recovery methods and capacity planning for both on-premise and cloud-based solutions.
- Accurately estimate pieces of work both small and large and successfully execute on these estimations.
- Ability to perform some DBA tasks such as performance tuning, optimisation sizing, backups, upgrading, migrating etc.
- Knowledge of source control solutions such as Git and DevOps.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle complex change and prioritize key activities.
- Implement full lifecycle activities including, but not limited to detailed analysis, design, development, test, user acceptance test support and production implementation.
- Adhering to coding standards and best practices.
- ITIL knowledge and the ability to understand and demonstrate service management best practices.
- Some knowledge of Amazon AWS, Attunity replicate would be seen as beneficial.
