- Team Leadership & Motivation: Support the Transport Manager in guiding and inspiring the transport team to achieve peak performance across efficiency, profitability, and service delivery.
- Operational Oversight: Take charge of daily transport operations, including dispatch, debriefs, and managing work in progress to ensure smooth and timely execution.
- Customer Collaboration: Work closely with our key customer to maintain seamless operations and build strong, professional relationships.
- Driver Management: Lead driver debriefs, provide support, and ensure clear communication across the team.
- Resource Planning: Maximise the use of vehicles and staff by planning ahead and making strategic decisions to optimise performance.
- Reporting & Recommendations: Provide regular updates to the Transport Manager, offering insights and suggestions to improve service and efficiency.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Monitor and audit safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment for all.
- Communication Hub: Handle queries confidently via email, phone, and face-to-face interactions, acting as a key point of contact.
- Performance Tracking: Assist in producing KPIs and daily operational statistics to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Compliance Support: Help plan and maintain compliance in line with company procedures and industry regulations.
- Breakdown Support: Provide direct assistance during vehicle breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Team Culture: Foster a positive, collaborative working environment by supporting colleagues and promoting teamwork.
- Experience in a similar transport or logistics role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills across all levels.
- Good knowledge of UK geography and routes.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.
- A flexible, solution-focused approach to challenges.
- Confident working independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Competitive Salary: Days - £28,000pa - £29,000pa Nights - £30,000pa - £31,000pa. Depending on experience and hours worked.
- Hours: Days 06:00hrs to 14:00hrs/ 14:00hrs to 20:00hrs. Nights: 22:00hrs to 06:00hrs.
