A highly regarded alternative provision in the NG6 area of Nottingham, is seeking a committed and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to support secondary-aged students facing social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment and helping students develop the skills necessary to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans for students. Your primary focus will be to provide guidance, mentorship, and encouragement to help students manage their emotions, improve their social skills, and engage productively in their education.The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of child development, behaviour management strategies, and the unique challenges faced by students in alternative provision settings. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build trust and rapport with students from diverse backgrounds.Key responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor role include:
  • Assessing students' behavioural needs and collaborating with the team to develop tailored support plans
  • Providing one-on-one and small group mentoring sessions to address specific behavioural challenges
  • Implementing evidence-based strategies to promote positive behaviour and reduce disruptive incidents
  • Monitoring student progress and adjusting support plans as needed to ensure continued success
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to student behaviour and interventions
  • Communicating regularly with parents, carers, and other professionals to provide updates on student progress and coordinate support efforts
To be considered for this position, you should have:
  • A degree or relevant qualification in education, psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and restorative approaches to behaviour management
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and empathetic in challenging situations
