Location: Windsor & MaidenheadSalary: £40,089 - £47,708 per annumContract: PermanentRole Overview:This critical role involves working with children and young people who are in the care of the local authority, ensuring their welfare and development are prioritised. As a Senior Practitioner, you will hold a manageable caseload of complex cases, offer guidance and supervision to less experienced social workers, and ensure that high standards of practice are maintained across the team.This role is ideal for a highly skilled social worker looking to take on a leadership role within a supportive team, focusing on improving outcomes for children in care and ensuring they have the stability and support needed to achieve their potential.Key Responsibilities:
  • Complex Case Management:
  • You will hold a caseload of complex children in care cases, where you will be responsible for ensuring that care plans are effectively implemented, reviewed, and meet the needs of each child. You will ensure that all statutory requirements are met and that children’s welfare and development are central to all decision-making.
  • Pathway and Care Planning:
  • You will develop and review comprehensive care plans and pathway plans for children and young people in care, ensuring their needs are met in areas such as education, health, emotional wellbeing, and placement stability. You will work with children, their families, and foster carers to secure positive outcomes.
  • Advocacy for Children in Care:
  • You will advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard, and that their wishes and feelings are central to all care planning and decision-making processes. You will work in partnership with children, ensuring they understand their rights and the support available to them.
  • Supporting Placement Stability:
  • You will work closely with foster carers, residential care providers, and other professionals to ensure that children have stable and nurturing placements. You will address any placement issues promptly and work to prevent placement breakdown through regular support, intervention, and planning.
  • Supervision and Mentoring:
  • You will provide support and informal supervision to less experienced social workers within the team, offering guidance on complex cases, assisting with case planning, and helping to develop best practice. You will play a key role in fostering a learning environment within the team, where reflective practice is encouraged.
