Senior Proposals Engineer – Automotive Tooling

- Produce best in class, robust solutions for mechanical tooling applications for integration with automation, material handling and robotic systems.
- Work with our Business Development team to professionally represent the company, gather data and ask the right questions to define a project.
- Attend client sites to discuss solutions and complete site surveys.
- Identify & interpret customer requirements to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements.
- Conduct technology research / analysis to ensure all Concepts are robust and can be justified as a working concept, prior to any customer submissions.
- Support risk identification and mitigation.
- Communicate with the customer and assess requirements to produce an RFQ.
- Produce technical proposals to the required level of detail as identified in the client tender/RFQ.
- Develop value-added propositions and proposal writing.
- Support estimating & supply chain activities with RFQ production.
- Manage resources in the production of the proposal e.g., internal engineering and third-party engineering resources.
- Assist and advise other members of the Applications team on solutions, stakeholder reviews, customer, and supplier interaction.
- Support development of the Applications department’s processes and discuss improvements where required, and implement improvements agreed with the leadership team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD (SolidWorks & AutoCAD), ideally some knowledge of Catia, Inventor and Teamcenter.
- Proven experience in a similar Mechanical Engineering role.
- Proven experience in a Mechanical application environment.
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Automation methods and processes.
- Supplier base knowledge.
- Understanding of project costs - design, management, manufacture, installation.
- Experience in Automotive tooling from concept to installation.
- Hands on Mechanical manufacturing experience.
- Time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering, Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of current industry Materials Handling systems best practice for automotive & general industry.
- Knowledge of current Industry Automation controls best practice and techniques experience for automotive and general industry.
- Pneumatic circuit design.
