London/HybridThe Opportunity:We are looking for a Portfolio Underwriter to join our Technical and Business Performance team in London.This is a great opportunity to play a role in developing our Commercial Motor Portfolio. This UK book covers a broad range of segments, underwriting business for corporate and global clients across a range of program structures. The role will be responsible for executing a strategic underwriting plan which delivers market leading growth and profitable results to the division.With hybrid working and excellent benefits you will be working alongside colleagues in a supportive and inclusive environment.Your Role
- Support the Commercial Motor Trading teams in achievement of Business plan through delivery & co-ordination of our Proposition, Pricing & Insight.
- Build strong networks within key internal teams, Pricing Claims, Distribution, Legal, Actuarial & Finance
- Assist in the delivery of consistent technical capability and training
- Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to drive and enhance business performance
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, brokers, industry bodies, business partners to maximize influence
- Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
- Contribute and participate in all meetings, in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice
- Manage records of underwriting risks and aggregate exposures to ensure accuracy of data and effective risk management
- Network internally and externally to promote the interests of QBE EO and to learn from others
- Provide technical expertise to identify risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to portfolio reviews and peer review processes to support continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in the motor insurance market, ideally with a focus on commercial clients.
- Understanding of class specific underwriting and awareness of reinsurance programmes
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build trust and influence effectively.
- Strong knowledge of policy wordings, regulatory requirements, and market trends.
- A data-driven mindset with good analytical and negotiation skills.
