Technical Deployment Specialist: Self-Checkout (SCO) RolloutChessington | 6 months+ | Inside IR35 | HybridAn exciting long-term opportunity has arisen for our customer, who is a leading brand in their field. This is a pivotal role to help them through the next phase of their national Self-Checkout (SCO) roll-out. They are seeking a Technical Deployment Specialist to play a hands-on role in supporting, coordinating, and championing the technical rolloutacross multiple sites.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and coordination for the Self-Checkout deployment programme.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Windows-based POS/SCO devices, including bespoke applications and drivers.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for software packaging and deployment processes.
  • Support remote installations and diagnostics using the Ivanti ITSM software tool.
  • Coordinate with field engineers, 3rd party vendors/suppliers, and on-site contacts to ensure smooth deployments.
  • Take ownership of scheduled go-live support, including early-morning checklists, system verifications, and escalation handling.
  • Deliver project updates and reporting, including performance and roll-out progress.
  • 4/5 days per week are 07:00/08:00 - 15:00/16:00 & Early shift (remote) 04:00/05:00 - 12:00/13:00
  • Be responsive to changing business needs - adaptability is key!
Experience Required
  • Proven background in Level 2 support, desktop deployment or IT field engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of POS or Self-Checkout technologies, particularly Windows OS-based systems.
  • Hands-on experience with software config, packaging, and deployment processes.
  • Experience with Ivanti or similar ITSM/remoting tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and communicate with engineers and vendors.
  • Flexible to support out-of-hours deployments and early morning go-live support (on rotation).
  • Ideally have previous experience in large-scale retail technology rollouts.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
