Reports To: Lead Production ManagerRate: £25.00 + Holiday Pay £3.64 PER HOUR PAYE / £34.09 UMBShift: 37 Hours Per week / 8.00am - 4.45pm (Mon - Thurs) 8.00am - 12.00pm (Fri)Contract: 12-monthsWhat does the role look like?As a Senior Production Controller, you will play a key role in developing and enhancing processes within the GDS Production Control team to ensure customer demand requirements are met. You will focus on short-term supply management, driving on-time delivery (OTD) and reducing arrears while maintaining optimal inventory levels. Your responsibilities will include collaborating cross-functionally, managing escalations, and ensuring real-time problem resolution in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
  • Coordinate with various departments to align planning and customer requirements across kitting, operations, and shipping.
  • Manage material availability through effective escalation of supply issues (internal and external).
  • Identify and escalate material supply mismatches, providing timely solutions.
  • Generate and report performance data and risks to the leadership team, supporting with mitigation plans.
  • Develop and maintain weekly production and kitting plans while ensuring adherence to inventory forecasts and plans.
  • Monitor adherence to inventory plans, including process control and aged WIP reduction.
  • Ensure completion of the Build Plan and review execution performance (QCPC).
  • Manage escalation processes for sustained deviations from the plan. Collaborate with the SIOP function to improve processes such as forecast accuracy and material master data.
  • Construct and implement standard work instructions aligned with management requirements.
  • Coach and develop the production control team, identifying skills gaps and ensuring appropriate development plans are in place.
  • Support inventory optimisation initiatives (PFEP) and analyse data to drive improvements.

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrable experience with SAP and Excel, with the ability to share knowledge across the team.
  • Good working knowledge of core processes in demand management, production planning, and materials management.
Desirable skills:
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Highly motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing escalations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong understanding of inventory optimisation processes (PFEP).
  • Previous experience in coaching and developing team members.
  • Familiarity with process control methodologies and QCPC adherence.
  • Responsive to change and able to operate effectively in a continuous improvement environment.
