OverviewWe're looking for a Senior Pension Consultant to effectively manage a portfolio of clients; who have engaged us to effectively manage their Final Salary/Defined Benefit Pension schemes.Location: London, Manchester or Ipswich - hybrid; 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.Following a sustained period of growth; whereby we have grown our client book, our staff numbers and our revenue, here at Buck we are actively recruiting a client-facing, portfolio-leading Senior Pension Consultant role. These roles will be based in our London, Manchester or Ipswich offices, but with a good degree of flexibility insofar as working from home, and will focus on being the primary or secondary point of contact for a portfolio of clients relating to their Defined Benefit/Final Salary Pension schemes. Specifically, you will deliver comprehensive guidance covering full governance, scheme secretarial, and strategic communications delivery in these roles!Therefore, we are looking for individuals with similar experience. Experience within a client facing role. Experience with Defined Benefit/Final Salary Pension schemes. And experience of being a trusted point of contact for clients and trustee boards. If you can bring further experience of winning new clients and you hold the APMI qualification (or you're on your way to attaining this) then that's an added bonus!
How you'll make an impactResponsible for billing and overall services to clients, consultancy advice, coordination of client team, attendance at key meetings and client strategy. New business development from existing and new clients.
  • All aspects of Customer Relationship Management.
  • Negotiating and agreeing provision of services and fee budget
  • Billing clients for fees and disbursements at regular (i.e. monthly) intervals – write up/down fee notes –v- time booked.
  • Planning & scheduling client / trustee meetings – maintaining documentary evidence thereof.
  • Overseeing production of all reports, documents and communications (written and verbal) with the client.
  • Cross-selling Buck Consultants services to existing clients.
  • Client manager for a portfolio of client.
  • Ensuring clients “buy-in” to Buck at all levels and identifying the time to involve others both junior and senior staff.
  • Consultancy as to scheme design and modification.
  • Advising as to the effect of actual or anticipated changes in law, or employee benefit practice.
  • Attending regular trustees meetings, of the company pensions or benefits committees and of scheme members.
  • Arranging Trustee training.
  • Recommending insurance or benefits (e.g. life cover, long term disability) and implementing the Trustees’ of the client’s instructions for placing these.
  • Drafting explanatory literature for the scheme, i.e., announcements and booklets, or commenting on drafts produced by others.
  • Liaising with solicitors, insurers and others concerning draft deeds, rules and other Scheme documentation provided by them.
  • Negotiations and liaison with HMRC and other regulatory bodies in connection with the running of the scheme.
  • Presentations to Scheme members, or potential Scheme members on relevant matters, at the request of the Trustees or Employer.
