Marine Mammals Consultant (Principal/Associate Director level)RPS is looking for a Marine Mammals Consultant (Principal/Associate Director level) to support our portfolio of high-profile offshore wind projects in Scotland, the rest of the UK and internationally. We operate a hybrid working arrangement and you can be based in Chepstow, Edinburgh, Woking or London (home working can be considered). We have flexible working opportunities, including part time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.We are at the forefront of the industry - delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience includes 20 years at the forefront of the industry, working across the UK, wider Europe, America, Australia and Asia.We are a leading contributor to industry research with previous key research-based projects for the Carbon Trust (via the Offshore Renewables Joint Industry Programme (ORJIP), Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Our consultants are actively engaged in industry steering groups to help advise and shape the future of offshore wind development (e.g. Renewable UK, Marine Noise Registry, Cumulative Effects Framework).When you join RPS, you'll become a member of a deeply experienced marine consenting and environment team who have been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) consultant for some of the industry's major “firsts”. These include the world's largest offshore wind farms: Orsted's Hornsea One, Two and Three, and Scotland's largest offshore wind farm SSE's Berwick Bank. We are also at the forefront of supporting the offshore wind industry through Round 4 and ScotWind.Other “firsts” include bp and EnBW's first offshore wind farms in England (Morgan), Wales (Mona) and Scotland (Morven), and Australia's first offshore wind project, CIP's Star of the South. We are also providing marine subject matter expertise to support Vineyard Wind, the United States' first utility-scale offshore wind energy project and have been selected as ESIA consultant for Firefly, Equinor's first floating offshore wind project in South Korea.We're RPS, our projects are all around you. Here you'll find work that is engaging and rewarding, and you'll be supported every step of the way.What you'll be doingAs a Marine Mammal Consultant, you will be the technical lead with extensive experience in writing and understanding EIA for large scale complex, multi-disciplinary projects. You will work with our project managers to ensure marine mammal technical inputs are managed within our financial plans, project programme and to our client scope. You will coordinate the compilation of marine mammal reports (and other marine ecology reports, as appropriate) and undertake technical reviews of these. You will also supervise processing of marine mammal survey data and modelling and will be supporting and mentoring junior colleagues on their development in this area. You will build relationships with our clients (including project engineering teams), statutory consultees and other groups (e.g. non-governmental organisations) throughout the pre-application process and post consent as projects move to the development phase.We have exciting plans to expand our support to the global renewables sector, with offshore wind as a key focus area of this initiative. As a member of our team, you will work with some of the industry's brightest and most experienced talent to deliver projects for the industry's major energy developers.
