- Interface with Mechanical Design and Mechanical Integrity disciplines to collectively derive component life, including duty-based lifing.
- Create, adapt, and analyse turbomachinery air systems to determine temperature, pressure, and flow characteristics under various operating and environmental conditions.
- Conduct root cause analysis, weighted decision analysis, and design of experiments.
- Specify component and engine test requirements.
- Calibrate analytical models using engine test data and fleet experience.
- Provide production support through the processing of component and engine test readings.
- Disseminate findings through reports and presentations.
- Improve delivery by integrating toolchains and other process enhancements.
- Produce and maintain method documents.
- Test and validate internal and commercial code upgrades.
- Monitor and report achievements against technical and schedule objectives.
- A minimum of five years of experience, building upon a Bachelor's or Master's degree with significant content in Automotive, Aerospace, or Turbomachinery air/cooling/sealing system design.
- Ability to validate own results using 1D methods such as hand calculations.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A thorough understanding of Fluid Dynamics theory and a keen interest in continuous personal development in the subject.
- Understanding of investment casting manufacture, materials science, secondary air systems, and the origins of stress and creep.
- Experience applying FEM and/or CFD analysis for fluid flow and heat transfer, using tools such as Patran, P-Thermal, RR SCO3/SPAN, Ansys, Abaqus, and CFD software like StarCCM, CFX, or Fluent.
