The OpportunityThe Cardiff Metropolitan University Food Industry Centre, in collaboration with Food Innovation Wales, are specifically looking for a full-time Knowledge Transfer Affiliate to work at our Partner company Authentic Curry Company Ltd.Authentic Curry Company Ltd produce a variety of ready-made meals using home style cooking methods for retail, restaurants, pubs, local authorities, and major supermarket chain cafes. The company’s 38 employees manufacture over 100 different products at their BRCGS Food Safety, Grade AA+ certified factory in Hirwaun.The Cardiff Metropolitan University Food Industry Centre, in collaboration with Food Innovation Wales, has a series of fixed-term full-time and part-time positions for Food Technologist Affiliates (Helix - Knowledge Exchange Affiliates) to work within small to medium size enterprise (SME) companies in the Welsh food and drink manufacturing sector. The Food Technologist Affiliate will work within a partner company’s manufacturing site and will be supported by both Zero2Five technical delivery team and an Industry based supervisors in the approved partner organization to support the delivery of a bespoke technical food safety/compliance or product development based projects. Bespoke projects may cover a range of areas within the food and drink manufacturing sector of the Welsh economy.Successful applicants from a first stage interview will be matched with an appropriate partner organisations, based upon best skill mix for the projects so approved, and posts may be offered subject to the approval of a second interview with the relevant Industrial Supervisor. Details of successful candidate will be held in our Affiliate Pool until a successful post is offered.What you’ll do – key duties
  • To analyse existing industry practices within the Industrial partners’ premises and implement interventions that aim to improve business operations.
  • To effectively communicate and report on steps needed to embed improvements within the industrial partners’ premises in accordance with good management practice and in compliance with relevant legislation and industry technical instructions.
  • To efficiently implement new and improved systems via a variety of methods, using a structured approach and to an agreed timetable in line with business objectives.
  • Develop and deliver a programme to embed the principles of the new methodologies to be adopted.
  • Undertake a formal evaluation of the project.
  • Each project will have additional specific duties and responsibilities commensurate with the business needs, and abilities to be determined by the Industry supervisor in conjunction with the bespoke project aims. Such duties and responsibilities will not conflict with the main duties and responsibilities as outlined above.
What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths
  • Relevant industry experience is essential if the education qualification specifications are not fully met. Experience may include sector specific, or exposure to food manufacturing / processing or food related industries.
  • Computer literate, including, information searching, databases and spreadsheets
  • Project specific knowledge relating to themes within the Scheme (e.g. food safety/microbiology, technical systems, new product development etc.)
  • Ability to develop working relationships with organisations and business partners
  • Willingness to undertake further training/development specific to the project goals and objectives
