Supporting Families Key WorkerWe have an exciting opportunity here at Barnardo's for an experienced, enthusiastic, and assertive Family Key Worker who will join an experienced team to deliver support to children, young people and their families as part the national Supporting Families criteria.This is undertaken in partnership with Bradford Metropolitan District Council and key third sector partners as part of the Early Help and Targeted Early Help Services for Bradford district.The role is full time, 37 hours per week and will be based at Barnardo's Listerhills Services, Bradford BD7 1HRKey responsibilities will include:
  • Work with families, young people, a team of staff, and other agencies to reach families and young people assertively and creatively.
  • Carry out a comprehensive Early Help Assessment with families and young people, involving them in the process and producing a plan that you then share and monitor with the family and other professionals.
  • Deliver support flexibly which is tailored to the needs of the family, including home visits, face to face support, telephone and virtual calls.
  • Signpost to partner agencies based on the needs identified.
  • Support families to navigate their way through referral pathways and enable them to access universal and targeted services.
  • Where required advocating on behalf of families supporting parents and carers to communicate with professional services.
  • Support family members to access local services through Locality Hubs and via the FYI website
Ideal candidates must have
  • Experience of working with families with complex needs and the ability to build and maintain rapport through effective communication and listening skills, using a whole family approach.
  • Evidence of the coordination and completion of an assessment of need in relation to a young person or family.
  • A good understanding of the socio-economic factors impacting on vulnerable children and families
  • A good knowledge and understanding of local services and provision, skills to enable and connect Families into appropriate local Services to support with wider identified needs.
  • The ability to take a trauma informed and strengths-based response to families highlighting their resilience and working with them to identify additional support they require.
  • Experience of applying safeguarding and child protection policies/procedures
  • Ability to accurately and clearly record case notes deploying the necessary standard of report writing. This will be supported by good IT skills to record and maintain accurate data.
  • Relevant level 3 qualification or above in a Health, Education or Social Care Qualification
