Trainee Teaching Assistant – Wigan Primary & Secondary SchoolsAre you passionate about working with children and young people? Are you considering a future career in education?An exciting opportunity has arisen for committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our vibrant and inclusive client schools in Wigan as Trainee Teaching Assistants this academic year.This role is ideal for anyone looking to gain experience in a school setting, particularly if you’re interested in progressing into teaching, SEND support, pastoral care, or educational psychology.As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will:
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging, high-quality lessons across a range of subjects.
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups, particularly those who need additional support.
  • Assist in preparing classroom resources and learning displays.
  • Help monitor pupil progress and behaviour, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
Training and DevelopmentWhile on placement, you will have the opportunity to complete a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification, fully supported and funded, to enhance your skills and employability within education.We are looking for someone who is:
  • Energetic, empathetic and passionate about helping children achieve their best.
  • A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual and organised, with a proactive and flexible approach.
  • Willing to learn and take on new challenges with a positive mindset.
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Experience working or volunteering with children or young people.
  • Interest in pursuing a career in education or youth work.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
