Rate: Competitive — details to be discussed upon applicationWe are seeking a highly skilled and committed Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry to join our NHS client in Beverley, Yorkshire. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work within a secure and supportive environment, providing expert psychiatric care to individuals within the criminal justice system and those with complex mental health needs.Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and psychiatric care within a forensic inpatient setting.
- Act as an Approved Clinician and hold Section 12 approval under the Mental Health Act.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, psychiatric evaluations, and treatment planning for patients with complex forensic and mental health needs.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, legal professionals, and external agencies to ensure safe and effective care pathways.
- Contribute to Mental Health Review Tribunals, court reports, and legal proceedings as required.
- Supervise junior doctors and contribute to their training and development.
- Participate in clinical governance, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for Forensic Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
- MRCPsych or equivalent qualification
- Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act
- Extensive experience in forensic psychiatry and secure mental health services
- Strong leadership, risk management, and communication skills
