We're working with a leading civil and structural engineering consultancy seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their growing London office. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer to take a leading role in the design and delivery of diverse civil infrastructure projects across the residential, commercial, education, industrial, and urban regeneration sectors.About the RoleAs a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, liaising directly with clients, and leading civil engineering input from concept to construction. You will have a strong technical background and be confident managing multi-disciplinary teams on a range of development infrastructure schemes.
You will work closely with both civil and structural teams, contributing to the business's growth while maintaining a high standard of technical delivery and client service.Key Responsibilities
- Leading design and delivery of infrastructure and drainage projects
- Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments (FRA)
- SuDS and detailed drainage system design
- Earthworks and levels strategy
- S106, build-over, and S278 applications
- Public realm and highway improvements
- Hard landscaping and external works design
- Coordinating with stakeholders, local authorities, and clients
- Mentoring and reviewing work of junior staff
- Ensuring compliance with design standards and project deadlines
- Minimum of 8+ years' experience in UK civil engineering design
- Proven leadership on development infrastructure projects
- Strong client-facing skills and project coordination ability
- In-depth experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PDS, and MicroDrainage (WinDes)
- Solid understanding of UK planning policies and approval processes
- Chartered or working towards Chartered status with ICE
- £55,000 - £62,000 annual salary
