- Perform Handling Qualities analyses / flight dynamics simulations, compare with existing experimental data and produce related documentation.
- Review requirements, compliance methods and testing required for helicopter qualification
- Support testing and analysis required to demonstrate Handling Qualities compliance
- Assess performance compare with existing experimental data and produce related documentation.
- Perform flight mechanics tasks or support other Disciplines, as requested by the Discipline Manager and/or by the Technical Leaders
- Study and understand the flight mechanics of conventional and new rotorcraft configurations
- Develop performance and flight dynamics models.
- Coordinate with FM CP, other specialist and relevant System Engineer to ensure inputs, outputs, priorities and deliverables are coherent with project plans, assumptions and objectives.
- Coordinate with Head of Discipline and Technical Leaders to ensure the methods used are appropriate and the quality of the results is in line with the Flight Mechanics standards and procedures.
- Coordinate with the Colleagues in order to ensure the exchange of knowledge and best practices.
- Master Degree in technical subject (preferred: Aerospace/Aeronautical/Automation engineering)
- Knowledge/experience in aeromechanics subjects (preferred: rotorcraft/aircraft flight mechanics and performance)
- Strong understanding of basic flight physics and rotorcraft background.
- Previous experience in flight mechanics mathematical modelling and simulations
- Knowledge and possible experience of aircraft type certification standards (civil and military).
- Knowledge of the most significant military rotorcraft and Leonardo Products
- Model validation
- Experience in massive data analysis
- Knowledge of analytical tools (Matlab, AICAM, Flightlab or similar)
- Knowledge in stability and control analysis to evaluate and size helicopter to meet CS-29/27 and ADS33E requirements.
- Understanding of weapons integration on Rotorcraft
- Preparation and optimization of design development, certification and qualification flight test plans.
- Linear and non-linear helicopter response analysis for stability and handling quality assessments
- Knowledge in rotor blades movements, its modelling key points and impact on operating capability
- Strong understanding of linear algebra to handle big data problems.
- Knowledge of specific Flight Mechanics analytical tools ( Flightlab or similar simulation software)
