- Discussion and confirmation of technical requirements with the customer, including communication throughout the whole test program from project conceptualisation through to delivery.
- Leading the complete testing project execution, including:
- Discussion and confirmation of technical requirements with the customer up to proposal release
- Test project planning and coordination within the team/customer, including the definition and arrangement of vehicle logistics, test location booking, test route/programme, instrumentation...
- Test sample preparation and instrumentation.
- Test preparation, operation and data acquisition set-up.
- Test execution according to the defined procedures and specifications.
- Test data analysis, validation and reporting.
- Test preparation: coordinate the required test preparation tasks, such as vehicle inspection, instrumentation, together with test drivers and/or technicians.
- Test execution: lead test execution according to the defined procedures and specifications, including coordination of test drivers and/or technicians, liaison with test location management…
- Test data collection, validation, analysis and reporting according to test/customer procedure requirements. Concern analysis and troubleshooting supported by IDIADA experts.
- Support business development activities.
- Ensure alignment with corporate procedures in terms of the management of the project, test samples, test equipment/facilities, quality, OHS, logistics, outsourcing/purchasing…
- Executing and/or supervising hands-on automotive and mechanical jobs related to chassis, engine, body, bracketry fabrication…
- To flexibly support other related activities as required by the business.
- On occasion, supporting non-UK-based testing that might be required by the company (eg at IDIADA's proving ground in Spain).
- University engineering degree, preferably with Automotive specialisation.
- Solid background in automotive technology and vehicle systems.
- Good knowledge of the UK road network and testing infrastructures nationwide (ie proving grounds).
- Available to travel within the UK and abroad as per project requirements.
- Must have a full manual UK driving license. Having a test-driving qualification is an asset.
- Experience with test equipment use (i.e. sensors, data acquisition, driving robots, ADAS platforms) and management (i.e calibration) is also an asset.
- Proactive and thorough hands-on engineer able to work efficiently within the team and alone.
- Relevant experience in vehicle Durability, ADAS, Brakes or Vehicle Dynamics testing is an asset.
- Hands-on experience with wiring, tin soldering and basic electronics is an asset.
- The ability to be flexible and responsive to customer needs is essential.
