Nursery EducatorWestminsterNegotiable Start DateStarting salary - £25,000OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursery Educator to join a vibrant early years setting in Westminster. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for early childhood education, child development, and inclusive practice, creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 0-5 years.Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and Deliver Activities
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate learning activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Foster a creative, safe, and engaging learning environment, adapting resources to meet the needs of all children, including those with SEN.
  • Supervise and Safeguard
  • Monitor and ensure the safety, wellbeing, and personal care of children at all times.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, reporting concerns as per statutory guidelines.
  • Observe and Assess
  • Record observations of children's development, progress, and behaviour, sharing these with parents and senior staff.
  • Support the development of individual learning plans for children as required.
  • Promote Positive Relationships
  • Develop strong, respectful relationships with children, their families, and colleagues.
  • Facilitate effective communication with parents, providing regular feedback and support.
  • Maintain Records and Hygiene
  • Keep accurate records in accordance with statutory requirements (attendance, accidents, individual progress).
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organisation of the nursery environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
Essential Requirements
  • Recognised Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years Education (e.g., CACHE, NVQ, or equivalent)
  • Relevant Teaching Certificate
  • Experience working with children aged 0-5 in an early years setting
  • Sound knowledge of the EYFS framework and child development milestones
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently
  • Reliability, patience, and enthusiasm for early childhood education
Desirable
  • Paediatric First Aid certification
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Intermediate IT skills for digital record-keeping and educational resources
  • Multilingual skills relevant to the Westminster community
