- Responsible for the safety, maintenance and efficiency of all pieces of equipment held on site
- Responsible for maintenance checks
- Maintaining and servicing all machinery electrically, pneumatically and mechanically
- Troubleshooting faults with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems in a wide variety of situations
- Troubleshoot faults with control gear and PLC systems
- Carry out other property/facilities/maintenance duties as required including monitoring and maintenance of the heating, water and lighting systems. General building maintenance (changing light bulbs, emergency light testing, basic plumbing etc)
- Monitor and execute planned preventative maintenance on various systems within the building such as annual inspection and testing of all electrical equipment (desirable)
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies (out of hours), performing diagnosis, repairs and troubleshooting to restore machinery to optimal function.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and food safety regulations during maintenance and repair activities.
- Follow safety protocols while working with machinery and electrical systems.
- Assist in conducting risk assessments relating to engineering processes
- Implement modifications or improvements to machinery and processes to optimise performance and reduce costs
- Identification and sourcing of replacement parts and work to ensure the most cost-effective option
- Ensure compliance to customer’s policies and standards and the BRC Global Standard for food safety.
- Effective fault finding and problem-solving skills
- Strong planning and organisational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail.

- Experience of electrical and mechanical maintenance in manufacturing operations

- Previous experience working in an engineering role is essential.
- Previous experience of working in the food industry is desirable
- Engineering experience- electrically and mechanically skilled
- An engineering based NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification
- Knowledge of HACCP, BRC and audit requirements.
- Awareness of Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Day shift hours to be agreed (relatively flexible with other Engineer)
- Full driving licence would be preferred.
