Hours: Full-timeJob Description of a Payroll Processor:Academics is proud to be working on behalf of one of East Riding's largest Multi-Academy Trusts who are seeking a Payroll Processor to join their People Services team in Cottingham starting September 2025. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to contribute to an in-house payroll function, ensuring all colleagues are paid accurately and on time.Key Responsibilities of a Payroll Processor:
- Administer accurate payroll processing for all staff, including new starters, leavers, and contractual changes.
- Respond to payroll queries from employees across the Trust.
- Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, and pension schemes, including the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
- Submit monthly reports to HMRC, pension providers, and complete relevant payroll documentation.
- Process BACS payments, including net pay, pensions, third-party payments, and HMRC submissions.
- Assist with year-end processes, audits, and ensure compliance with legislation.
- Collaborate with HR and Operations teams to maintain accurate records and update data as required.
- Support staff by providing advice on payroll-related matters, ensuring a customer-focused service.
- Previous experience in payroll processing.
- Strong IT skills, especially in using payroll systems and spreadsheets (Excel).
- Knowledge of payroll legislation, including PAYE and National Insurance.
- Experience in pension administration (e.g., LGPS).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive data confidentially.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to deadlines.
- Ability to reliably commute to Cottingham
- Experience working in an educational setting or with academy payroll.
- Familiarity with statutory calculations and the education sector's pay and conditions.
