SEN Specialist Tutors Needed to Support Primary/GCSE Level Learners within Birmingham.Are you a passionate, engaging educator searching for opportunities to significantly impact the learning of young people through 1:1 or small group tuition? We have learners in Birmingham who require tailored, in-person support in their own homes or schools to enable their academic success - we are searching for dedicated tutors who share our passion for creating meaningful outcomes for learners of all ages and ability levels.Fleet Education Services is one of the largest nationwide providers of alternative and supplementary education to schools and local authorities. We support children from all backgrounds through one-to-one and small group tuition programmes, tailored to each individual learner's requirements. Our impactful, quality-assured tuition is delivered by the best educators who ensure that every learner we support thrives.As a tutor with us you will provide in-person tuition to students who have either disengaged with education or are struggling to meet age-related academic expectations. Opportunities to tutor are tailored to your availability and subject specialisms, and can vary between 1-15 hours per week depending on the student's learning requirements. Your skill and expertise will play a leading role in improving the self-confidence and subject knowledge of your learner, ultimately re-engaging them with education and providing a positive learning outcome.Learners referred to us may demonstrate complex learning requirements. Experience working with children who present the following will be advantageous:
  • Special educational needs (SEN) such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia or dyspraxia
  • Social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
  • Childhood trauma
Key Responsibilities
  • Create lesson plans and deliver tuition programmes that are designed to engage, inspire and teach.
  • Use our virtual learning platform to report on attendance, attainment, and engagement for all tutoring sessions.
  • Liaise with the school, local authority, Fleet Education Services, or other key stakeholders to inform and support the student.
  • Complete training as required and commit to safeguarding principles.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months teaching/tutoring experience.
  • Must live and be eligible to work in the UK.
  • Must be willing to undertake a full Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and referencing process, as well as subscribing to the DBS Update Service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the national curriculum for your chosen subject.
  • A commitment to safeguarding.
  • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, and other complex needs.
