- Supporting emotional and mental health needs building trusting and supportive relationships in line with the schools ethos
- Providing a calm and consistent presence to children, encouraging self esteem and resilience.
- Support positive behaviour strategies using de-escalation techniques.
- Adapt classroom material to meet the individual needs of each child working to maintain classroom engagement.
- Communicate with teachers, SENCOs and parents about the well being and performance of children.
- Understand and follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Relevant qualifications for the role.
- Experience working with children, especially those with SEHM needs.
- Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy and emotional resilience.
- A good knowledge of SEND and SEMH strategies and techniques.
