- Working within the Design function you will produce new designs and design modifications of aircraft structures and ancillary items ensuring their compliance with regulatory requirements and fitness for purpose
- Develop robust engineering solutions within your own discipline, taking into account the impact that work on broader project issues
- Plan and deliver your own work, across medium term planning horizons and provide complex technical advice to both internal and external customers
- An Apprenticeship/HNC/HND/First degree level as a minimum or equivalent level of experience in aerospace engineering
- An experienced level of knowledge of aircraft design principles / assembly techniques / manufacturing processes / basic mechanics / materials science / sheet metal fabrication design / machining design / composites design / aerospace fasteners & types of structural joints / aircraft design regulations
- A high level of knowledge of types of aircraft loading / typical structural analysis failure criteria / material allowables / finite element analysis process / interpretation of stress plots / load paths / design features that generate peak stresses / design failure mitigation techniques
- Experience in CATIA V5 design package and ENOVIA VPM part management system or equivalent systems.
- Capability to autonomously perform standard design activities for the modification of existing structural designs and for the development of new structural designs
- Capability to autonomously review design regulations and formulate compliance plan, compliance justifications and reports
- Capability to autonomously derive structural repairs and investigate build line and in service issues
