LUSU Shop is a convenience store located at Pendle college on Lancaster University campus and our mission is to recruit a senior sales assistant to complement our team of career and student staff. If you want to help support what we do at LUSU - delivering a wide range of experiences and opportunities for our students - then this is the role for you.Working in all areas of the store, from checkouts to stock replenishment, merchandising and in store bakery you will report directly to the retail manager.The role is 30 hours per week over 52 weeks a year and receives the added advantage of annual leave during University shutdown periods over Christmas and Easter.Preferred start date: 20th of May 2024Expected end date: 30th of June 2025Interview date: 7th of May 2024Hours per week: 8 -16Location: On the Lancaster University campusJob DescriptionMajor Duties
  • To adhere to and uphold shop operational procedures relating to:
  • Cash handling
  • Till operations
  • Opening and Closing
  • Shop security
  • Merchandising and promotion
  • House keeping
  • Sale of restricted products eg alcohol
  • Health & Safety and legislative compliance
  • Customer service
  • To maintain high levels of customer service, projecting a positive image of the shop to customers at all times.
  • To communicate effectively any operational issues to the Retail Manager in a timely and appropriate manner and to attend shop meetings as and when required.
  • To contribute to the improvement of the shops' service through constructive feedback to the management regarding customers' attitudes and perceptions of the shops, its products and services
  • To undertake comparable duties in other Students' Union departments as and when required and to carry out any other duties comparable in responsibility as directed by the Students' Union CEO and / or relevant Line Manager.
  • To effectively and efficiently undertake shop procedures maintaining high standards of customer service.
