An opportunity has arisen for a Social Work Assistant in the AMHP - Approved Mental Health Professional Service. The Kent AMHP Service is a busy team that provide Mental Health Act assessments across the county. This involves working closely with NHS partners to provide a 24 hour, 365 days per year service. This is a rewarding and exciting opportunity as you will be working in an evolving service. You will need excellent time management skills, be able to prioritise your workload and support others in the team where appropriate.Our team consists of Mental Health Professionals and Social Work Assistants and you will be required to support the role of the AMHP's within the team on assessments of clients in the county. This will require triage support and assisting with the setting up of assessments. You will be required to work alongside multi-disciplinary services and other agencies, including Acute and Community Trusts, Primary Care Services and the Police.You will be highly motivated and demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills to deliver the highest quality service to the people of Kent. Experience in Mental Health would be an advantage.You must also possess:- Experience of working within a multi-agency environment.
- Knowledge of relevant Mental Health and Social Care legislation
- Good computer literacy and report writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, mediation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in partnership with client's, carers, and colleagues.The service is currently based over two sites Invicta House, Maidstone and Brook House, Whitstable and the role will require you to work at multiple location including some homebased working. You will need to have your own transport and be able to travel across the county as required in a timely manner.The role is 23 hours a week worked over various shift patterns which will include weekends.You will be given regular supervision, support and training to develop the skills to fulfil the role. The post holder will need to be flexible and innovative, bringing a range of skills and experience to help support the AMHP service and the fluidity of the organisation.This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
